Extension of Deadline for Filing 2025 Annual Income Tax Returns

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has released Revenue Memorandum Circular (RMC) No. 030-2026, dated April 14, 2026, announcing the extension of the deadline for the filing of 2025 Annual Income Tax Returns (AITR), payment of the corresponding taxes due, and submission of required attachments.

Extended Deadline

  • Original Deadline: April 15, 2026
  • New Deadline: May 15, 2026

This extension provides taxpayers with additional time to prepare and file their returns completely and accurately, without the imposition of surcharges or penalties.

Reason for the Extension

The issuance of this circular is in line with Executive Order No. 110, s. 2026, which declared a State of National Energy Emergency. With the rising cost of fuel and its impact on households and businesses, the government has taken this step to ease the burden of compliance and provide relief to taxpayers during this challenging period.

Filing and Payment Channels

Taxpayers may continue to file and pay through:

  • BIR electronic platforms (eFPS and eBIRForms)
  • Authorized Agent Banks (AABs) nationwide

Commitment to Public Service

The BIR has directed all internal revenue officers and employees to observe and give this circular wide publicity, ensuring that taxpayers are fully informed of the extended deadline. This measure reflects the government’s commitment to making tax compliance more manageable and responsive to current economic realities.
